Sanjeev Rajput is an Indian Sport Shooter and He represents India in a 50m Men’s Rifle 3 Position event. He was born on Monday, January 5, 1981, in Yamunanagar, Haryana, India. Sanjeev comes from humble family background and His father was a street vendor.

He did his schooling at SD Public School Jagadhri, Haryana and then joined the Indian Navy as a sailor and left the same in 2014. Sanjeev finished his BA (2014-2017) in Humanities/Humanistic Studies from Sabarmati University. Later, he finished his MA (2018-2020) in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching at Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University.

In 2001, Sanjeev started his professional shooting career and participated in inter-ship competitions. A year later, he joined the Indian navy shooting team and participated in national competitions by representing the Indian navy.

In 2004, he got his first breakthrough in his career when he won three gold medals and a silver at the South Asian Games in Islamabad. He next won two consecutive gold medals in 50m air rifle 3 positions and 50m air rifle prone team at the national shooting championship 2004 held in Indore.

In 2005, he made his debut at commonwealth championships held in Melbourne and won a gold medal in a 50m air rifle 3 positions event. In the following year, at commonwealth games held in Melbourne where he won the bronze medal in 50m air rifle prone. Later that year, at the 2006 Asian games, he won the bronze medal in a 50m air rifle 3 positions event.

In 2007, he set a new national record by scoring 1170/1200 at the ISSF world cup held in the USA and secured his berth for his debut summer games at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He then participated in the Asian shooting championship and he won a silver and a bronze in 50 air rifle 3 positions and 50m air rifle prone team respectively.

He then participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics but failed to win a medal. Later, in 2009, he won a gold medal at the Asian airgun championship 2009 in the 50m air rifle prone team event. In the year following, he won 3 gold medals and a silver at the commonwealth shooting championships 2010 held in New Delhi. He then won a silver medal in the 10m air rifle team at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian games.

In 2011, at the ISSF world cup held in Changwon, South Korea, he clinched his first ISSF world cup gold medal in a 50m air rifle 3 positions event. By winning this gold secured his berth for the London Olympics. At the 2012 summer Olympics, he could not make it to the finals of the men’s 50-metre rifle three positions.

In 2014, at the commonwealth games in Glasgow, he won a silver medal in 50m air rifle 3 positions and later that year, he won a bronze medal in 10m air rifle at the Asian games held in Incheon.

Two years later, at the 2016 ISSF world cup, he won a silver medal in a 50m air rifle 3 positions event. In 2018, won a gold medal in 50m air rifle 3 positions at the commonwealth games held in gold coast. Later that year, at Asian games held in Jakarta, a silver medal in a 50m air rifle 3 positions event.

In 2019, he won the silver medal at the Rio de Janeiro ISSF world cup and simultaneously secured his berth at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in the 50m three positions event with a score of 1180.
