Tejaswini Sawant is an Indian Sport Shooter and She represents India in a 50m Air Rifle 3 Positions. She was born on Friday, September 12, 1980, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India.

Her father Late Ravindra Sawant was an officer in the Indian Navy and her mother Sunita Sawant is a housewife. She has two siblings, 2 younger sisters, Anuradha Pitre and Vijaymala Gavali.

At the age of 13, she started her training in shooting and received her first training from Jaisingh Kusale in Kolhapur. In 2003, she made her debut at the national shooting championships. In 2004, Tejaswini won the gold medal at the South Asian sports federation games held in Islamabad, in a 10m air rifle event.

She then won 16 national medals, including 5 gold medals, 6 silver, and 5 bronze medals at the national shooting championships between 2004 and 2006.

She was then selected to represent India at the commonwealth games 2006, ahead of Anjali Ved Pathak Bhagwat (Asian games gold medallist) and Suma Shirur (world record holder), where she won 2 gold medals, one in women’s 10 m air rifle singles and another one in women’s 10 m air rifle pairs event along with Avneet Kaur Sidhu.

In 2009, she won the bronze medal in women 50m air rifle 3 positions at ISSF world cup medal held in Munich, Germany. Later that year, she participated in the world cup 2009 final and finished at 7th position in 50m air rifle 3 positions.

In 2010, she won the gold medal in women 50 m rifle prone at world championships and became the first Indian woman shooter to win a gold medal at the world championships in the 50 m rifle prone event.

In the same year, she won 2 silver medals and a bronze medal in 50m rifle prone, 50 m rifle 3 positions pairs and 50 m rifle prone pairs respectively. Later, in 2018, she won a gold medal in 50m rifle 3 positions and a silver medal in 50m rifle prone.

In 2019, she then qualified for her debut summer games at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 after she reaching the final in the 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Asian Shooting Championships. In the same event, she won a gold medal in 50m rifle prone team and a bronze medal in 50m rifle 3 positions.

In 2021, she won the gold medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions mixed team at the ISSF world cup held in New Delhi.
